The Methodologies Suite

The PM² Methodologies Suite provides structured approaches for managing Projects, Programmes, and Portfolios, backed by lean, user-centric, and well-aligned publications. Offering practical guidance, the suite enhances efficiency, promotes agility, aligns organisational efforts with objectives, and delivers value to teams across diverse environments.

PM² Project Management

The PM² Project Management methodology provides guidelines to assist organisations and teams in managing the entire lifecycle of their projects. It facilitates the definition and planning of projects, guiding the production of deliverables that align with their intended purpose, respect time and cost constraints, and create value for stakeholders.

PM²-Agile

PM²-Agile provides a hybrid management approach that integrates Agile principles and practices with the PM² framework. It enables organisations and agile teams to adopt iterative execution and incremental delivery methods, promoting adaptability and responsiveness while maintaining alignment with established governance structures and procedures.

PM² Portfolio Management

The PM²-PfM Portfolio Management methodology supports organisations in creating and managing portfolios of projects and programmes. It provides a governance model and detailed guidelines for executing key processes, from portfolio composition to performance monitoring. This enables organisations to maximise the return on their investments while maintaining strategic alignment and control over budgets and resources.

The PM²-PgM Programme Management methodology offers guidelines for managing and coordinating interrelated project components to achieve strategic objectives. It provides a structured framework for defining and planning programmes, enhancing decision-making and cross-project coordination, assessing programme performance, and optimising the delivery of outcomes and benefits.

PM² Mindsets & Virtues

Many organisations establish a code of ethics and conduct
to guide their members in making appropriate decisions and behaving in ways aligned with shared professional values, including the PM² mindsets and the personal and professional virtues. 

This framework helps individuals navigate complex professional environments
by emphasising core aspects such as independence, impartiality, objectivity,
 and loyalty. Practising professionalism requires both skill and good judgement, but also moral integrity. PM² practitioners and project team members are expected to act with circumspection and responsibility, considering the implications of their actions while adhering to legal and organisational rules.

The Evolution of PM²

Originally developed by the European Commission to support internal projects, PM² has evolved into a complete suite of methodologies serving organisations of all sizes and sectors in Europe and worldwide.
This evolution reflects a shift from a sole focus on project management to encompassing programme and portfolio management, collectively contributing to organisational success.
